چکیده
A detailed study of the muonic analogue of neutrinoless double beta decay, (μ, μ+) conversion, has been carried out for the A=44 nuclear system. We studied several lepton number violating (LNV) mechanisms potentially triggering this process: exchange by light and heavy Majorana neutrinos as well as exchange by supersymmetric particles participating in R-parity violating interactions. The nuclear structure has been taken into account within the renormalized Quasiparticle Random Phase Approximation method. To our knowledge, this is the first realistic treatment of nuclear structure aspects of the (μ, μ+) conversion. We estimated the rate of this process utilizing the existing experimental constraints on the parameters of the underlying LNV On leave of absence from Department of Nuclear Physics, Comenius University, Mlynská dolina F1, SK–842 15 Bratislava, Slovakia On leave of absence from Join Institut for Nuclear Research, Dubna, Russia 1 interactions and conclude that the (μ, μ+) conversion is hardly detectable in the near future experiments.

We study nuclear μ − e conversion in the general framework of an effective Lagrangian approach without referring to any specific realization of the physics beyond the standard model (SM) responsible for lepton flavor violation (Lf / ). We examine the impact of a specific hadronization prescription on the analysis of new physics in nuclear μ−−e− conversion and stress the importance of vector mes...

In the region of large μ+μ− invariant mass, the decay spectrum of KL → μ +μ−γ deviates from the Dalitz pair spectrum, as a result of interference between conversion (KL → γ ∗γ → μ+μ−γ) and bremsstrahlung amplitudes. The latter is proportional to the KL → μ +μ− matrix element, whose 2γ-absorptive part appears to dominate the observed KL → μ +μ− decay rate. We examine the extent to which a scruti...
متن کاملNew constraints on R-parity violation from μ–e conversion in nuclei
We derive new constraints on the products of explicitly R-parity violating couplings λ and λ in MSSM from searches for μ–e conversion in nuclei. We concentrate on the loop induced photonic coherent conversion mode. For the combinations |λλ| which in μ–e conversion can be probed only at loop level our constraints are in many cases more stringent than the previous ones due to the enhancement of t...
متن کاملCan μ – e Conversion in Nuclei be a Good Probe for Lepton - Number Violating Higgs Couplings ?
Motivated by the improving sensitivity, R, of experiments on μ T i → e T i and the enhanced Higgs nucleon interaction, we study this lepton number violating process induced by Higgs exchange. Taking the possible sensitivity, R ≃ 10, we obtain the constraint on the Higgs-muon-electron vertex, κμe, to be less than 2.4×10−7 if the masses of the Higgs scalar and W gauge boson are the same. κμe is a...
